My Biography
I was born in Texas and I am from the Rio Grande Valley. I graduated from Sharyland High School, earned a Bachelor's degree in English, and a Master's degree in Education.
Previous to my educational career, I worked in the insurance industry as an insurance adjuster and was President of the Rio Grande Valley Claims Association. I have also worked in the banking and hotel industries and was a stay-at-home mom.
For the past 16 years, I have been a high school educator with Mission Consolidated Independent School District.
Currently, my positions include the following: University Interscholastic League (UIL) Academic Coordinator, Theater Director and Department Head (Mission High School). Last year, I was the Academic Youth Development Administrator at Mission High School. The Academic Youth Development (AYD) program focuses on developing Math and Science Skills for incoming freshmen. I was given the distinguished Who's Who among American Teachers Award in 2004 and 2005. I presently serve as Secretary of the Texas Educational Theater Association - Administrative Strand.
In the civic/political arena, I have participated in Texas Republican State Conventions as delegate or alternate delegate since 2000, and have worked actively in the Hidalgo County Republican Party. I have been a Republican election clerk during voting periods at the precinct level since 2000 in Hidalgo County and have voted in Republican Primaries since 2000. I also watch/attend our local Hidalgo County Executive meetings to stay current on issues affecting our area. I am a member of the Hidalgo County Republican Women (affiliate of Texas Federation of Republican Women) and a member of the Grass Roots Institute of Texas (GRIT). Besides being a Republican Party activist, I have locally participated in civic political affairs by being a member of the non-partisan McAllen Citizens' League.
On the personal front, I am happily married to Jack M. York and I have three wonderful children---
Chris, Aly, and Stephanie Anzaldua.
My husband and I are also foster parents.
